The 2026 Booker Prize shortlist was announced on September 22. The six books are:
The End of Everything by M John Harrison; The Disappearers by Marlon James; Black Bag by Luke Kennard; May We Feed the King by Rebecca Perry; The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout; and John of John by Douglas Stuart.
Douglas Stuart won the prize in 2020 for Shuggie Bain; Marlon James won in 2015 for A Brief History of Seven Killings. The winner of the 2026 prize will be announced on Monday, November 9.
Tara Gereaux, Michelle Good, Nicholas Herring, Nazanine Hozar and Patmeena Sabit will compete for the $100,000 award, to be presented on November 16.
