Canongate has acquired world rights to Material Evidence, the debut book by Tilda Swinton, for publication in autumn 2028. The deal was made with David Kuhn at Aevitas Creative Management and Christian Hodell at Hamilton Hodell.

Canongate will publish in the United Kingdom, with Farrar, Straus and Giroux handling the North American edition. Publishing partners in France, Germany and the Netherlands are also on board.

Rather than following a chronological structure, the memoir tells Swinton’s story through a series of significant objects.
